🦸🏻‍♂️ What do you do in the new year?

What's the one thing that is common every new year? People taking new year's resolutions to go to the gym and fail miserably. Therefore, the gyms and fitness centers make huge profits in Jan of every year.

In the meantime, have you wondered why the tobacco companies get into a lot of advertising and launch a variety of new cigars, and try to market them huge?

Well, the reason is the same - new year's resolutions that make fitness centers happy but downgrade the sales of the cigar industries. Many chain smokers and active smokers decide to quit smoking on new year's eve and this causes a serious dent in the sales of the tobacco industry. However, some individuals fail to stand with their resolution but a large group quit smoking completely. Consequently, cigar companies market their products in such a way that even non-smokers get attracted to their catchy advertisements.

🧐 Immoral?

All these may sound weird, unethical, and unfair. But let's try to analyze much better. When you get onto the street, you get to see 1000 salesmen trying to sell 1 million products to you. Targeted marketing through advertising exists in every nook and corner of the planet. You can't really escape.🥹

Let me give an analogy. We see plenty of ads on Gulab Jamuns every Diwali tempting many (including me) to buy a tin. Doesn't it feel unethical to people who are trying to be fit and lose all their efforts on being healthy by just witnessing an ad on Jamun? That is exactly what the tobacco companies do in the Jan of every year.

Even Cred tries to use a similar strategy and market their gym products in the Cred store.

tl;dr - So, to sum up, you can't get away easily from ads and it's up to your willpower to stand with your resolutions. 😛
