What's special about the Madras Patnam?
Chennai originally known as Madras Patnam (until 1966) by the Britishers offers enough reasons for every Chennaitie to fall in love with the city. I was born and brought up here and the city has never failed to amuse me. Having been in Chennai for the past 24 years, this metro city taught me a lot. The city has seen me cry, laugh, enjoy, get humiliated, and much more.
So what's more special about the so-called 'The Detroit of Asia'? The temples, the beach, the Filter Kappi, the culture, or the IT hubs? Well, Chennai is more than that.
Geographically, Chennai lies on the coastal area of the Bay of Bengal, the city hosts the second longest beach in the world - The Marina beach - running along the coast for about 13 km.

Shifting gear towards food, what's really amazing about the food in Chennai? Is it the different cuisines ranging from Asian, Japanese, Chinese to American? Of course, yes. But it's more than that. Chennai is known for the food for every class of people. You can get a coffee for 1000 bucks at a posh coffee shop and at the same time, one can get a coffee for 5 bucks at a street café.
Chennai is so sweet to the tourists and the Chennaities are always super happy to host their guests. The city is very accessible and you can reach from point A to B in all means of public transport - metro, bus, local train, autorickshaw.
And the Chennaities - how can one forget about them? Chennaities are one of the pleasing people you can find on Earth. Mankind over Chennai treat like your brothers and sisters no matter where you come from and one such instance is the 2015 drastic floods in Chennai which proved the brotherhood of the Chennaities.
Apart from the culture, the food, and the tourist places, Chennai is fascinating with its amazing diversity. You will be able to see various people from various walks of life. Chennai has turned into a home for many individuals and you can't find a single being who can hate Chennai.
In fact, I will get upset whenever a guy speaks ill about Chennai and I do all I can to defend "My Chennai" and prove that I am a great Chennaitie. After all, "Idhu nama ooru".
