📹 About YouTube
Before delving into how YouTube turned into my guru, a quick stats about YouTube.
About 1 Billion hours of video are watched every day on this video platform. YouTube has grown from a random video platform to a more professional content platform. No wonder content creators like Ali Abdaal, Johnny Harris, etc. left their usual 9-5 work to start creating videos on YT. I see YouTube as the next information content tool.
The ex-CEO and founder of YT Susan Wojcicki was the landlord of the garage that was rented out to the Google founders. Apparently, YouTube used to be a dating site, more kind of Tinder, where individuals can upload videos of themselves and find potential matches. Interestingly, YT even had a slogan for it "Tune In, Hook Up!"
But that idea didn't work out and YouTube had to pivot to a more generic video hosting platform.
🥷🏻 What does YouTube mean to me?
Okay now shifting gears, being a self-driven individual, I rely heavily on self-learning and it had really helped me in understanding stuff and getting my things done. In fact, I have learned most of the stuff that I do right now in my life is highly dependent on the things that I have learned from YouTube!
With all due respect I have for my teachers, I can shamelessly say that I have grasped a lot of things from YouTube than from my school teachers and professors. And it is completely okay because I personally feel that schools and colleges are a place to network and to prove that you can get your things done.
"I think college is basically for fun and to prove you can do chores, but they are not for learning. You can learn anything for free."
- Elon Musk
I completely resonate with Elon Musk's ideology because if you get content for free why don't you use it to the fullest? But that doesn't mean that you completely ignore schools and drop out of your college. They are essential too and at the same time, try to maximize your search for knowledge.

Apparently, I get my daily motivation, self-finance, and productivity hacks from YouTube. That's the beauty of this great educational resource providing viewers with endless content options. While there is n number of channels out there, quality content is what you can resonate with. Find channels that you can highly relate to and get a habit of following specific thought influencers.
Youtube has become a parallel school
A collection of channels that I personally follow and highly recommendable are:
